The Bellafam Legacy

Bellafam (2015) is coined from the name of Isabella Njeri, my late maternal grandmother (Jan 1937 - 27th Nov 2022), who was an ardent farmer and pioneer sugarcane and tea farmer in her local village in Githumu, Kandara, Murang'a.

She believed in treading uncharted waters in agriculture when nobody would clearly see her vision. This got in me genetically, having to abandon my engineering career and pursue beekeeping. Nobody did understand it, but my grandmother saw it and embraced it wholeheartedly.

In order to show solidarity, she risked the family land and took a loan (2018) for me to set up the venture. She was that gracious and generous to me. I vowed that her name shall forever remain on earth, long before she passed and even beyond the confines of her grave into Africa. That's how I coined Bellafam from Isabella Family.

Meet Our Director

Stephen Kimani Kaboyo graduated in Civil & Structural Engineering (Hons), Moi University (2010), practiced Engineering for 5 years before pursuing his passion in apiculture.

He holds a Certificate in Basic Beekeeping from National Beekeeping Institute (2018), Diploma in Apitherapy from Romania (2021-2022), attended Apitherapy Conference in Poland, and Advanced Beekeeping Certificate from PUM Organization from The Netherlands.
